Your guide to Christmas light switch ons in Calderdale

The festive season is almost upon us with towns and villages in Calderdale ready to shine bright as they switch on their Christmas lights. From historic markets to meetings with Santa, there will be something for everyone across the borough.
Brighouse
The Christmas lights will be switched on by Santa during the annual Brighouse Christmas Market on Saturday November 25 at 4pm. The weekend will feature street food, a funfair and more to get visitors into the festive spirit. There will even be some camels paying the town a visit!
Elland
Elland Christmas Festival is taking place on Friday 8 December from 2.30pm with carols, light switch-on, market and Elland's first Handmade Parade. All this and more will be held on Southgate in the town centre.
Halifax
The town centre's lights will be switched on at 5.30pm on November 25 at the top of Woolshops. There will be a day of entertainment across the town with performances on stage from 4pm. Stilt walkers and fire breathers can be found at Woolshops Shopping Centre, face painters and balloon modellers in Halifax Borough Market and a whole host of entertainers across our town centre.
Hebden Bridge
The Christmas Lights Switch On will take place in St George's Square from 4.30pm on Friday November 17. There will be entertainment from The Peace Artistes and Bazzmatazz and mince pies will be served in the town hall.
Mytholmroyd
The Christmas Market and lights switch-on will take place this year on Saturday 18 November in St Michael's Church Hall, square and Memorial Gardens from noon until 5.30pm. The Christmas Lights Switch On will be at 4.30pm. There will be a craft market, firework display, and music from Hebden Bridge Brass Band.
Northowram
The Christmas lights in the village will be switched on, on Friday November 24 at 7pm by local celebrity Rosie Widdison, who works on the Pulse 1 radio morning show 'The Mylo and Rosie Show'. The Northowram Singers and a brass band will celebrate the switch on at Northowram Club.
Ripponden
Running from 11am until 6pm the Ripponden Christmas Market will take place on Saturday December 2 at Bridge End, adjacent to St Bartholomew's Church in the centre of the village. A parade of vintage tractors will deliver Father Christmas and cast members from the local pantomime group to the market at noon where there will be stalls, food and festive music.
Sowerby Bridge
The Totally Locally Christmas market will return to Sowerby Bridge market on Sunday December 3. There will be delicious food, a visit from Santa and more between 10am and 4pm.
Todmorden
The town's Christmas lights will coincide with the Lamplighter Festival which takes place on November 25. The lights will be switched on at 4pm and there will be a market before illuminated works of art are paraded through the streets from 6pm.
Warley
Outside the Maypole Inn from 3pm on November 25, visitors can join Father Christmas, the Mayor of Calderdale, and Warley Church Singers for the switching on of the Christmas Tree lights. There will be a raffle, Christmas punch, cake and mince pies.
