Tips When Buying A Stairlift

Monday 22nd August 2016

A stairlift is a bespoke item, made to measure to your own specifications, so it's important to make sure you're looking out for the right things to make sure you get something which is going to be perfect for you and allow you to make your life easier.

Don't Be Pressured

A lot of companies will send a salesman out to your property instead of a surveyor. These people are trained in high pressure sales and can often make people feel pressured into commiting to a purchase right then and there. Don't be afraid to take time to think about your options, go and talk to family and come back and ask questions.

Know Your Requirements

A lot of requirement queries can be answered by a good surveyor, but it's helpful to know if you think you might need a power swivel to help you get off the lift, or a powered foot plate so you don't have to lift it up yourself.

Use a Trusted Brand

It might seem like a great deal getting a lesser known or foreign brand name, but if you find yourself needing repairs a couple of years down the line, you may find stairlift companies are unable to get parts, or that they don't cover the brand at all. We use Platinum stairlifts, supplied by Platinum and built in West Yorkshire as our primary lift, and also other UK built lifts when customers prefer.
